VW Crafter Van Summary

With its joint development programme with the Mercedes Sprinter the new Crafter which replaced the old LT is a serious contender in the large panel van market.

With a range of power coming from the new common rail versions, available with a choice of power outputs; 88, 109, 136 and 163 hp with peak torque of 162, 206, 221 and 258 lb/ft respectively.

All models get a six-speed gearbox with standard features ABS and ESP, also with power steering and a dash-board mounted gearbox.

There are three-wheelbases available with load spaces ranging from 7.5m3 to 17.0m3, gross payloads range from 986Kg to 2,631Kg.

The standard features including Electric mirrors and windows, three- button remote central locking, Radio/CD player and drivers airbag.

The interior cab is identical to the Mercedes sprinter which by no means is a hindrance, storage space a plenty; all the controls are well positioned with a multi-adjustable driver’s seat.

Servicing is required up to 25,000 miles depending on usage and it comes with a three-year, 100,000 mile warranty.
