Stunned Police in Northern China’s Hebei Province pulled over what they suspected was an overloaded van, only to find it packed with children.

The minivan which is usually designed to carry 8 passengers had a staggering 66 children aged between 4 and 5 crammed into the back.

The children who were on their way to school were all removed from the van while the driver was questioned.

To accommodate all 66 children the back seats of the van were removed and replaced with wooden benches. The driver was arrested and given a series of tickets from breaking various motoring laws. It took 12 police vans to pick up the children and take them home.

Surely alarm bells must have rung for at least one of the children’s parents seeing their child getting squashed into a sardine can?
