While other van manufacturers charge up to £2,000 for their satellite navigation systems, Citroens comes as part of the Relay package. The Trafficmaster Smartnav satellite navigation is ideally aimed at helping businesses who travel long distances while visiting multiple locations. It’s designed to make the driver’s job easier by helping to locate destinations quickly and efficiently whilst avoiding traffic congestion in the process. This is estimated to save businesses up to £2000 per vehicle/ per year by improving fuel consumption, reducing millage and improving response times. Citroen are offering the new Relay in a wide choice of over 70 models that they claim are longer, lower, bigger and better equipped than their major competitors. All 70 models are covered by Citroen's three-year/100,000 mile warranty package that has no mileage restriction for the first 2 years. The latest Relay model comes as standard with a wealth of features which include a drivers airbag, powered electrically heated mirrors, electric windows, RDS stereo radio/CD player, a multi functioning trip computer, transponder immobiliser, remote central locking with deadlocks, adjustable steering wheel, ABS and EBA (Emergency Braking Assistance). There is also a high standard of cab interior lighting, a 12v power sockets in both the cab and load compartment area, a dual passenger seat, which incorporates a drop down desk unit. On the dashboard there is an assortment of compartments including two glove boxes, one of which has enough storage space for a laptop and is lockable. The relay also comes with a good choice of optional extras all designed to increase safety and comfort for both driver and passengers. These available extras include; air-conditioning, lateral and curtain airbags, cruise control, ESP with traction control and a Hill Start Assist function, electric foldable mirrors, extended mirrors, a reversing camera, speed sensors, speed limiter, upgraded audio equipment, suspension for the driver’s seat and a range of bulkheads. The Relay is the biggest van Citroen have produced to date and is available in 4 gross weights as 30 (3.0 tonne GVW), 33 (3.3 tonne GVW), 35 (3.5 tonne GVW) and the first time 40 (4.0 tonne GVW). It’s also available in four lengths L1 (short), L2 (medium), L3 (long) and L4 (extra long) and the three roof heights are H1 (standard), H2 (high) and H3 (extra high). The latest Relays are all fitted with HDi diesel engines designed for optimal performance and fuel efficiency, and can all run on up to 30 per cent bio-diesel, without modification. Drivers have a choice of 3 engines, a 2.2HDi that is available as both 100hp and 120hp versions, and a larger 3.0HDi 160hp engine. The smaller 100hp engine Dispatch comes with a five-speed, gearbox while the two larger engines in the range come with six-speed, all synchromesh gearboxes all of which are dashboard mounted.
