Fiat Ducato Van

The Ducato is Fiat’s largest van it’s designed by the PSA partnership which comprises of Fiat, Peugeot and Citroën.  For this reason the same van can be found badged as the Citroën Relay and the Peugeot Boxer with the same engine and body. The Ducato comes with a choice of 3 sophisticated Multijet 16 valve common-rail diesel engines.

To ensure that the engines are environment-friendly and meet the Euro 4 emissions limit all 3 engines are equipped with an EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) system which re-circulates a portion of the exhausts gas back into the engine to reduce nitrous oxide (NOx) emissions. The smallest engine of the group is a 2.2litre 100bhp which comes with a 5 speed gearbox.  The second engine is 2.3 litre with 120bhp and the largest engine of the three is a 3.0 litre 157bhp unit.  Both the 2.3 and 3.0 litre engines come with 6-speed manual transmission gearboxes and require an oil change every 28,000 miles, whereas the 2.2 litre engine requires a change every 25,000 miles.

The Fiat Ducato comes with a huge range of choices that can be mixing and matching to suit a businesses needs.  It comes in 7 different load volumes that range from 8m3 to a maximum volume of 17m3.  There are also 3 wheelbase options, a short wheelbase of 2670 mm in length a medium of 3120 and a long wheelbase of 3705mm. Buyers can also choose from 3 interior heights, 1662mm, 1932mm and 2172mm and can carry maximum payloads ranging from 1,000 to 2,000kg depending on the model. The Ducato comes in 5 GVW’s (Gross vehicle Weights) 3000kg, 3300kg, 3500kg and the Ducato Maxi is available in 3500kg and 4000kg. (This is the maximum permissible weight of a vehicle when fully loaded). One added benefit of the Ducato is that the space within the load area doesn’t taper off towards the roof like many other vans, the interior is very square which makes utilising the space much more efficient.

To protect the cab from moving cargo, the Ducato comes with a choice of 2 additional bulkheads one which is fully glazed and covered with a sound absorbent material on the cab side and the second is fitted with a sliding glass door that enables communication with the load compartment. The interior of the loadbay is protected with protective side panelling which comes up to waist height.

The loading compartment can be accessed from the rear via twin side-hinged doors which can open to 90° or even 180° by means of a push button (doors can also be specified with a 270° opening to allow for greater access). The Ducato comes with a single door as standard but is also available with sliding doors on both flanks.

The Fiat Ducato range come equipped as standard with adjustable drivers seat, drivers air bag, electric windows and mirrors, remote central locking, MP3 compatible CD stereo, 12v power point and ABS with EBD. There are also optional extras of manual and automatic climate control, passenger airbag and side airbags, ESP with Load Adaptive Control, cruise control, alloy wheels, rear view video camera, Fiat’s Blue&Me hands free phone interface, fog lamps, swivel driver and passenger seats, parking sensors and ceiling mounted storage compartments.

There is plenty of storage space within the cab, with 2 pockets in each door, 2 glove boxes, one of which is lockable, 3 storage compartments located under the driver’s seat, passenger’s seat and bench and optional overhead storage compartments. There is also a fold down surface that can be used as a desk making the cab into a mobile office when you are out and about.
